• The Twelve - Our 3 nights at The Twelve, just 10-minutes outside of lovely Galway in the town of Barna, were certainly a highlight of our most recent trip to Ireland. We chose their honeymoon suite (also called the Superior Suite) and just look what we got: a huge room with personalized entertainment tablet, record player and a collection of vinyl, hardwood floors, and of course, a huge jetted bathtub and separate walk-in shower. The spherical wicker “bouncy” chair suspended from the ceiling was most fun, and the hotel's amenities include a pub, bakery, and private spa with all sorts of pampering treatments. Pros: More dining choices and a supermarket within easy walking distance, and easy access to Galway City (10-minute drive) and Connemara. Lots of free parking. Cons: Some minimum-stay requirements. ERV Rating*: 92% - Excellent. Whirlpool Tub Size: 2 Persons. Neighborhood Attractions and Restaurants: A couple of cool gift shops are located a short walk from the hotel. The Fairview is a landmark building located right in the town center, making it convenient for visiting the nearby restaurants and attractions. It’s also very close to the bus/rail station. You're living the high life here with room service, concierge, bar, full breakfast, and a shared lounge and terrace. While the Executive and Junior Suites include luxurious bathrooms with a jetted tub, we recommend a splurge for your honeymoon or anniversary getaway: Go for the Penthouse Suite. It includes an open floor plan with handmade 4-poster bed, sitting room and dining area, as well as a spa bath, separate walk-in shower, and patio. Fresh breakfast is provided daily, and ample, free private parking is available. The hotel is set in a quiet location, away from the main road, but it’s still a short walk to the center of town, and a convenient drive to many of the main attractions. There’s also a separate shower, balcony, minibar and complimentary wine and chocolates. Guests have use of the leisure center just across the courtyard, and there’s a bar and restaurant, in addition to a full-service spa. For an extra fun experience, book an afternoon tea service! Pros Super-attractive downtown Westland with all it's colorful shops, dining and pubs is an easy 5 minute walk away. Situated close to the shores of Clew Bay. Cons: The main restaurant can be a bit crowded at breakfast. ERV Rating*: 94% - Excellent. Whirlpool Tub Size: 1 Person.
